Mount Airy Dog Park
The Mount Airy dog park opened officially today! It's located off Route 27 in Mt Airy at the Watkins Park. It's free for Mt Airy residents, but you must register by bringing in a water or utility bill to prove residency. The cost for non-residents is $15 for 2009 (April - Dec 2009) and $20 a year for full years after 2009. Non-residents must also provide a current registration tag for the county in which they live.
Rules for the park are posted on the entrance gate and include such rules as picking up any waste, no aggressive dogs are permitted use, dogs may not be left unattended and owners must have a leash for use outside the fenced area. Hours of the park are the same as Watkins Park - Sunrise to dusk, seven days a week.
You can register your dog on Sat, April 3 at the dog park or after that at the Pet Loft in Mt Airy next to Wal-Mart. They are open Mon-Thurs 10 am- 8 pm, Friday 10 am - 9 pm, Sat 9 am - 9 pm, and Sun 10 am - 6 pm You can call the Pet Loft with any questions at 301-831-0758
